Itineraries

Most routes to Montaillou are easily accessible by car, except for the D20 from Luzenac (“Route des Corniches”). We recommend trusting the travel time rather than the distance, which is sometimes given “as the crow flies.”

Remember to be properly equipped: winter tires or chains/snow socks are mandatory from November 1st to March 31st. That said, the main roads are generally well cleared until 5 p.m., except for the D20 from Luzenac (“Route des Corniches”), which is closed during this period.

Parking

We do not have a private parking area. There are a few public parking spaces nearby; otherwise, you can also park in the village square.

In winter, it is strongly recommended to park in the village square to avoid being blocked in the morning. Need help with your luggage? We’ll be happy to assist you.

Electric cars

Unfortunately, there is no charging station for electric vehicles in Montaillou. The nearest one is located 5 minutes away, in Camurac.

Bikes

We provide an indoor space where you can store your bicycles, with the possibility to recharge electric bike batteries.

Public transport

It is possible to take the night train to Ax-les-Thermes on the Paris–Latour-de-Carol line, but there is no public transport directly serving Montaillou; you will therefore need to take a taxi for the final part of the journey.
